A new reason for disability has been added in Ukraine.

The government is implementing a reform of medical and social examination
The government of Ukraine is beginning to implement a reform of medical and social examination aimed at fair determination of disability taking into account all circumstances affecting a person's health.
One of the reasons for disability can now be the deprivation of personal freedom due to armed aggression against Ukraine. The government recognizes this reason, which harms people's health, as grounds for granting disability both to civilians and military personnel.
To obtain disability status, a person must go through several steps. First, they need to apply to the Commission on Establishing the Fact of Deprivation of Personal Freedom, which must determine whether this reason was indeed the cause for granting disability. If the commission's decision is positive, the information is entered into the Unified Register of Persons Deprived of Freedom, and a corresponding document will be issued.
After that, a doctor or a military medical commission assesses the person's health status and limitations in daily activities. Based on the assessment results, the person receives an extract from the expert team's decision.
After obtaining disability status, the person has the opportunity to take advantage of state support programs, such as receiving rehabilitation aids, arranging for a pension or social assistance, as well as free spa treatment.
