The prices for potatoes in Ukraine have started to fall since the beginning of this year, notes EastFruit. It is now sold from 18 to 28 hryvnias per kilogram - 10% cheaper than before.
The main market players explain the price decline by the increased supply of the new harvest. However, they note that due to the high demand for early varieties, a sharp drop in prices has been avoided.
Analysts provide statistics, noting that potato prices in the Ukrainian market are now 30% higher than last year.
Most experts predict further price decreases for potatoes in the coming week as the harvest continues to grow daily.
Ukrainian potatoes are becoming cheaper due to the increased volumes of the new harvest. The high demand for early varieties keeps prices from falling sharply, but experts forecast further price declines in the near future.
