Extension of Martial Law and Mobilization
According to TSN.ua: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the extension of martial law and general mobilization for 90 days until May 4, 2026. 333 members of parliament voted for decree No. 14366. The duration of previous decrees regulating this legal regime is effective until February 3, 2026, at 5 a.m. This is already the 18th time parliament has made a decision to extend the special legal regime in the country.
Furthermore, the Verkhovna Rada also approved the extension of general mobilization for the same period. The new duration of mobilization will also end on May 4, 2026. It is important to note that 277 deputies voted for the candidacy of Mykhailo Fedorov for the post of Minister of Defense.
Security Guarantees and International Support
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that martial law will end when security guarantees, which include monitoring and the presence of partners, are established in Ukraine. These decisions reflect the continued efforts of the state to ensure national security in the context of armed conflict.
The extension of martial law and general mobilization is an important step to maintain the country’s defense capability amid an ongoing armed conflict. This decision demonstrates that the Ukrainian authorities continue to actively respond to security threats and also highlights the importance of international support in restoring stability in the region.
