Ukrainian Defense Forces in Action

According to UATV: Ukraine’s military continues to strike Russian military assets, particularly targeting and destroying facilities within the defense-industrial complex. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared that Russia’s planned spring offensive ended in failure, praising the effectiveness of Ukrainian troops. As he stated,

“The spring campaign, as intended, collapsed for the Russians this spring—they were unable to launch an offensive.”

Destroyed Industrial Targets

Since the start of 2026, Ukraine’s defense forces have eliminated four major Russian military-industrial enterprises. These include:

  • The 'Maykop' airbase, situated in the Republic of Adygea;
  • The Afipsky oil refinery, which processes 6.25 million tons annually—accounting for 2.1% of Russia’s total oil refining capacity;
  • The 'Kavkaz' port, located in the Krasnodar Krai region;
  • The 'Kremniy El' facility, which halted production for roughly six months due to strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to Serhiy Bratchuk,

“Ukraine’s defense forces, by executing this strategy of strikes on Russian territory, are selecting key enterprises that break the entire supply chain.”
Ukrainian military assessments indicate this approach aims to weaken the enemy’s combat capabilities, a goal reinforced by successful Ukrainian operations on the front lines.

These operations targeting critical Russian defense-industrial sites reflect a strategic wartime focus on dismantling the adversary’s logistical networks. Disrupting such facilities hampers Russia’s ability to produce new military equipment and sustain resource supplies, which could significantly hinder its future combat operations. Additionally, the success of Ukrainian forces serves to boost morale among troops and civilians alike, a crucial factor in sustaining the war effort.
