Veteran Shepetin explains why he is going to the Bureau of Economic Security.

Colonel SBU competes for the position of Director of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine
One of the finalists for the position of Director of the Bureau of Economic Security is Colonel of the SBU Igor Shepetin. The officer, who commanded a territorial defense battalion and participated in the battle for Bakhmut, explained his motivation for participating in the competition.
After experiencing heavy battles in Donbas and continuing his service after being wounded, Igor Shepetin decided that the main value lies in responsibility, not in the position. He is convinced that the economy is a key element for the security of the state. According to him, without proper financial resources, it is impossible to ensure military supplies, medications, and salaries for the military. This inspired Shepetin to participate in the competition and continue the fight for fair rules in the economy.
The colonel has many years of experience in the fight against corruption and working in the SBU and other state structures. He plans to transform the Bureau of Economic Security into an analytical and transparent body that will support honest business practices and investigate systemic economic crimes, rather than just keeping statistics.
The results of the competition will be announced by the end of June. If he wins, Shepetin plans to engage business associations, the veteran community, and the public in the relaunch of the Bureau. He dreams of transforming it into a 'smart service' that will combat corruption without repression but with effective strikes.
