Ukraine Requires Six Months to Prepare for Post-War Elections.
Elections in Ukraine Dependent on War's End
According to Novyny.live: On February 27, Serhiy Nahorniak, a member of Ukraine's parliament from the 'Servant of the People' party, stated that elections can only be held after the war concludes, requiring at least six months of preparation. He emphasized that any current discussion of elections is premature. This stance reflects the immense logistical and security challenges of holding a national vote during a large-scale invasion.

Nahorniak also expressed strong doubts about the feasibility of holding a vote this year, stating:

Potential Reforms Under Discussion
A parliamentary working group has been established to examine election-related issues. Among the potential legislative changes being considered are:
- Lowering the electoral threshold for parties from 5% to 3%
- Allowing military personnel to vote using their military service documents
Consequently, the question of when Ukraine can hold elections remains unresolved and is contingent on the nation's evolving circumstances. For now, the primary prerequisite for organizing a vote is the cessation of active hostilities. These potential electoral reforms aim to make the process more inclusive, particularly for those defending the country, but their implementation hinges entirely on achieving peace.
Elections in Ukraine are crucial for political stability and the restoration of democratic processes, but they are currently jeopardized by the ongoing war. Under conflict conditions, ensuring election security and the participation of all citizens, especially military personnel, is critically important. While discussing possible legal changes, such as lowering the electoral threshold, lawmakers are attempting to adapt the electoral system to new realities; however, tangible progress depends on peace being established in the country.
