President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his concerns regarding this situation.

“The war between Russia and Ukraine is about to enter its fifth year. Hundreds of thousands of people have died, cities have been destroyed, and millions have been forced to leave their homes,”

he noted, emphasizing that in recent months, the level of hostilities has reached a point that threatens trade and security in the Black Sea.

“In recent months, it has been observed that the war has reached a scale that threatens trade and shipping security in the Black Sea. We are making the necessary contacts to prevent this,”

Erdogan added, expressing hope for a swift resolution of the conflict, as further escalation could lead to a loss of control over the situation.

“Our sincere wish is to end this war as soon as possible, which carries the risk of gradually spiraling out of control due to reciprocal attacks by establishing a fair and sustainable peace,”

he concluded.
