Ukraine to Provide Monthly Stipends for Decorated Military Personnel Starting 2026.
Financial Recognition for Ukraine's Decorated Service Members
According to Novyny.live: Beginning January 1, 2026, Ukrainian service members recognized for exceptional merit will receive new monthly monetary payments. This policy is enacted under the Ukrainian law 'On Monthly Monetary Payments to Certain Categories of Citizens,' which grants the right to this stipend to individuals decorated since 2014. This initiative is part of broader efforts to support veterans and active personnel amid the ongoing conflict.
Stipend Amounts Tied to Honors and Minimum Wage
The payment amounts, which are based on the type of award and the national minimum wage, will take effect when the minimum wage reaches 8,647 UAH on January 1, 2026. Recipients of the Hero of Ukraine title and the 'Gold Star' Order will receive 25,941 UAH monthly. Those awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky of all three degrees are entitled to 17,294 UAH. Holders of the 'For Courage' Order or the Order of Princess Olga of three degrees will get 8,647 UAH.
Furthermore, the Presidential Award 'Cross of Combat Merit' comes with a stipend of 12,970.50 UAH. It is important to note that family members of a deceased awardee retain the right to receive the same payment of 12,970.50 UAH.
These changes underscore the state's commitment to acknowledging the sacrifices of its military and ensuring their welfare, thereby contributing to the social protection of those who have made significant contributions to national defense. The payments aim to support not only the service members themselves but also their families in the event of loss.
The introduction of new monthly stipends for military personnel represents a crucial step in providing social support for individuals who risk their lives for the country's security.
By offering this additional financial assistance during challenging times, the law may also serve to boost morale among troops and their families. Its implementation is expected to foster greater recognition and respect for the service of those who defend Ukraine.
