Military explained who and how can receive compensation for unused vacation.

According to new rules, military personnel who cannot take their vacation due to circumstances related to service will have the opportunity to receive compensation for unused days.

The vacation granted to military personnel during martial law lasts 30 days a year. However, due to certain circumstances, military personnel often cannot use it fully. In case of a shortage of personnel or an unfavorable situation at the front, they are unable to go on vacation.

The Ministry of Defense stated that unused vacation days can be compensated or used upon discharge from service according to social legislation.

This decision is provided for by the norms of the Law of Ukraine 'On social and legal protection of military personnel and their families', as well as the Order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine No. 260 'On approval of the procedure for payment of monetary support to military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and certain other persons'.

Thus, military personnel being discharged will be able to receive vacation with subsequent exclusion from personnel lists, depending on how long they have served in the year of discharge.

Individuals receiving this vacation will be credited with monetary support. Additionally, military personnel will be able to receive compensation for unused days of annual leave as well as additional leave, including past years.

The amount of compensation considers the salary for the position, the salary according to military rank, the length of service allowance, and all other monthly additional payments.

To calculate the amount of compensation for a vacation day, the total amount of monthly monetary support is divided by 30 days, considering changes in service length and amounts of monetary support during the entire service period.

To receive compensation, it is necessary to indicate the number of unused vacation days when submitting a resignation application and refer to the relevant legislation that provides the right to compensation.
