Driver age limits: which Ukrainians will be banned from driving.
Ukraine is preparing to limit the age of drivers for operating vehicles. The relevant bill No. 8082 has already been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration. According to these changes, elderly drivers will face additional requirements and testing.
The authors of the bill have taken the European Union's legislation as a basis, which is already working on limiting the rights of elderly drivers. According to these rules, drivers starting from the age of 65 must regularly undergo cognitive function tests to confirm the safety of vehicle operation. Subsequently, these tests will be conducted annually.
Ukrainian lawmakers are considering the introduction of similar measures. The preliminary version of the law provides for the introduction of additional requirements for drivers starting from the age of 65, with tightening at 70 and 75 years.
The final decision on the restrictions for elderly drivers has not yet been made, as members of the Verkhovna Rada have different opinions on this issue.
