Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today, we remember Valentyn Yaroțkyi.

On January 29, 2025, during a combat mission, Ukrainian defender Valentyn Yaroțkyi was killed. This was reported by the Lviv City Council.

Valentyn Yaroțkyi was born on September 19, 2000, in the village of Husakove, Cherkasy region. Later, his family moved to the village of Bortnyky in Ivano-Frankivsk region.

He studied at Bortnyky Gymnasium, and later entered the State Educational Institution 'Koršivskyi Professional Agricultural Lyceum', where he acquired the profession of 'locksmith-mechanic'.

From 2020 to 2021, he served in the 184th Training Center of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Academy of Ground Forces.

Upon returning, he worked in the construction sector. In his spare Time, he was fond of football.

After the full-scale invasion began, he returned from abroad and, on his own initiative, signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He defended the state in the ranks of the Ivan Bohun Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Throughout 2023, he was involved in the evacuation of defenders in Donetsk region, and from May 2024, he performed combat missions as an assault soldier in the Kharkiv direction.

The warrior's funeral ceremony took place on February 8 at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul. The defender was buried at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.

Valentyn Yaroțkyi is survived by his mother, sisters, and beloved girlfriend.

We remember those killed at the hands of Russian invaders, lighting candles in memory, and bow our heads in sorrow during a nationwide minute of silence, honoring the bright memory of Ukrainian citizens who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all military personnel, civilians, and children, all who perished in the fight against Russian occupiers and as a result of enemy troops attacking Ukrainian cities and villages.
