Age-related pension supplements: new amounts of payments and conditions for receiving.
Ukrainian pensioners of older age can receive additional supplements to their pensions, but there are limitations regarding their amount and the conditions for receiving them. This was reported by pension expert and journalist Serhiy Korobkin.
'Persons aged 70 to 74 inclusive receive an additional payment to the pension of up to 300 hryvnias, from 75 to 79 years - up to 450 hryvnias, and those who are 80 years old and older - up to 570 hryvnias,' explains the expert.
But there is an important limitation - pensioners whose pension exceeds 10,340.35 hryvnias do not receive an additional supplement. For example, if the pension is 10,300 hryvnias, but the person has reached 70 years of age, they will receive only 40 hryvnias to ensure that the total amount of the pension does not exceed 10,340 hryvnias,' explains Korobkin.
In addition, taking into account age, the amount of the supplement increases not by the full amount, but only by the difference. 'When a person turns 75 years old, instead of 300 hryvnias they receive 456 hryvnias, which means that the actual supplement increases by only 156 hryvnias. Upon reaching 80 years old, instead of 456 hryvnias, it is set to 570 hryvnias - the increase is 114 hryvnias,' adds the expert.
The establishment of supplements is regulated by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 24.02.23 No. 168. Additional payments are established from the day of reaching the corresponding age. If the birthday falls in the middle of the month, the pensioner receives half of the supplement for that month.
The expert notes that there are cases when pensioners may not feel an increase in payments. 'For example, if a pensioner receives targeted assistance up to the minimum pension amount, then when the age supplement is accrued, this assistance may be reduced,' notes Korobkin.
To verify the correctness of the accrual of supplements, the expert recommends contacting the Pension Fund for information about the components of the pension or checking them in the personal account on the electronic portal of the Pension Fund.
In Ukraine, there are 10.3 million pensioners, of which 2.8 million continue to work. The average pension amount for working pensioners is 6,302.76 hryvnias, which is 513.71 hryvnias more than the average pension in the country.
According to the system of age-related supplements, pensioners aged 70 to 74 receive 300 hryvnias, from 75 to 79 years - 456 hryvnias, and people aged 80 years and older - 570 hryvnias.
It is also worth noting that new restrictive coefficients will be applied to pensions whose amounts exceed 23,610 hryvnias, according to the State Budget of Ukraine for 2025.
In addition, the Pension Fund has begun financing pension and social payments for February 2025, directing 1.4 billion hryvnias through JSC 'Ukrposhta' and 73.8 million hryvnias for the payment of sick leave certificates.
