In 2025, Ukrainian military personnel retain the right to rest even during the war with Russia. They can take leave and visit their family.

According to the law, all military personnel, except those undergoing basic service, have the right to annual leave. The duration of the leave depends on the length of service: from 30 to 45 days.

  • from 30 days — service up to 10 years;
  • up to 45 days — service over 20 years.

In addition, an extra leave of up to 15 days is granted to those serving in difficult or dangerous conditions, as well as for family circumstances.

Leave for destroyed equipment at the front

If a serviceman destroys enemy equipment, he may be granted leave of up to five days.

Leave for female servicemen

Women have the right to leave due to pregnancy and childbirth, and one of the parents can take time off with a child up to 3 years old. There is also leave for health reasons lasting from 30 to 60 days.

Payments during leave

During leave, military personnel retain their monetary support and receive financial assistance for rehabilitation. Travel expenses to the leave location are also reimbursed. Those who go abroad for treatment can receive compensation of up to 100,000 hryvnias.

In any circumstances, Ukrainian military personnel are provided with the opportunity to rest and meet their family, as well as ensure the payment of money and other support during leave. The law provides for various leave options depending on the circumstances of service, and considers the possibility of improving the payment system for servicemen.
