German Tank Manufacturer Leopard 2 Expands Presence in Ukraine

The German company KNDS Deutschland, the manufacturer of Leopard 2 tanks, is creating a joint venture with a Ukrainian defense company. This was announced by the Minister of Strategic Industries, Herman Smetanin.

'I am pleased to announce the official opening of a joint venture between KMW (KNDS Deutschland) and one of the Ukrainian defense enterprises,' the minister stated.

The newly established enterprise will focus on the technical maintenance and repair of German military equipment used in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ukraine received the first samples of such equipment in 2022, which laid the foundation for further cooperation.

According to the minister, Ukrainian specialists have already undergone training in Germany and installed the first equipment at production facilities.

The minister also noted the positive impact of the new enterprise on the Ukrainian economy through job creation and attracting investments. He emphasized that the joint venture will help expedite the repair process of military equipment for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is worth noting that Ukraine may have an advantage in tanks compared to Russia for the first Time since the start of the war.
