Sheep Instead of Lawnmowers. American Farmers Found an Unusual Way to Make Money.
Farmers in the US have decided to rent out their flocks for grazing on solar farms to ensure a stable income despite losses in the agricultural sector, reports Reuters.
Several farmers in Texas have replaced their tractors with flocks of sheep to maintain profitability on their farms. One way to achieve this is by grazing sheep alongside solar panels.
According to the agency, the Rains family has not been growing cotton for four generations. Instead, Chad Rains rented out his farm to a neighbor.
Instead of cultivating fields, Rains drives the flock of sheep to solar power stations so they can graze on the grass that grows near the panels. According to Rains, the deals he made with five solar companies regarding 'natural lawn mowing services' turned out to be more profitable than growing cotton.
It is also worth noting that in American cities, flocks of sheep have started being used for lawn mowing instead of lawnmowers. This helps to avoid wildfires, preserve local vegetation, protect the environment, and safeguard wildlife, as well as take care of historic sites.
