According to Мінфін — Крипто/Фінанси: As of July 1, 2026, total deposits from individuals in Ukrainian banks reached 1.75 trillion hryvnias, increasing by more than 130 billion since the start of the year. The ongoing war in Ukraine continues to create economic headwinds, but the banking sector has demonstrated resilience. According to expert Yuliia Zabolotna, this upward trend in account balances, persisting even during wartime, reflects sustained public confidence in the banking system.

Trust in banks is strengthening. Figures show household deposits rose by over 130 billion hryvnias (8%) since January. Fewer than 1% of depositors hold accounts exceeding 600,000 hryvnias, indicating that most Ukrainians continue keeping their savings in banks despite the challenging economic climate.

Deposit Breakdown

What does the deposit structure look like? According to available data, 66% of deposits are in hryvnia and 34% in foreign currency. Yuliia Zabolotna notes that this split has remained consistent since 2021. It is also worth noting that after martial law ends, the maximum compensation limit will be 600,000 hryvnias, and following Ukraine's EU accession, the guaranteed amount will equal 100,000 euros.

Therefore, Ukrainians continue to show faith in the banking sector, and this confidence is reflected in rising deposit volumes despite the challenges of war.
