Is Belarus Planning a New Invasion? Volyn Says It’s Ready to Fight Back.
Head of Volyn Military Administration Addresses Threats from Belarus
According to Novyny.live: Since February 2022, the Volyn region has been steadily reinforcing its defensive positions amid the persistent threat of an invasion from Belarus. Local authorities insist they are fully prepared to repel any potential new assault. Acting head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration, Roman Romaniuk, emphasized that the danger from Belarus remains constant, stating:
“The risk of a threat from Belarus is always present.”
Throughout the full-scale war, the northern frontier has remained a point of concern. Belarusian leadership continues to back Russia, keeping Ukrainian military and civilian agencies on high alert. Romaniuk stressed that as long as the Belarusian regime stays aligned with the Kremlin, the possibility of an attack cannot be dismissed.
“That’s why we have to be ready 24/7,”he added.
Fortifying Defensive Lines
The Volyn region has systematically upgraded its fortifications over the course of the war to ensure the protection of its population and territory. Romaniuk noted, “Volyn is actively preparing. Not just today—this has been ongoing for years.” He further assured that the region is ready to ‘properly welcome’ any adversary, with every effort made to ensure “they do not advance a single kilometer deeper into Ukrainian territory through Volyn.”
Another official, Kyrylo Sazonov, reported that currently there are no signs of a new offensive being prepared from Belarus. Still, maintaining readiness for any challenge remains the region’s top priority. As a result, Volyn continues to take active steps to strengthen its defensive posture, fully aware of the ongoing threat from its northern neighbor.
The situation in Volyn reflects the broader concern within Ukraine’s leadership about possible aggressive moves from Belarus, closely tied to the political and military alliance between Minsk and Moscow. Given the history of the conflict and Belarus’s active cooperation with Russia, regional defense preparedness has become critical to Ukraine’s overall security. Volyn authorities remain committed to reinforcing defensive positions, ensuring they are ready for whatever challenges may come.
