NATO Estimates Russian Casualties in Ukraine War at 1.3 Million.
Russia's Toll in the Ukraine War
According to UATV: A NATO representative has disclosed that Russia has suffered approximately 1.3 million casualties since the start of its war in Ukraine, with around 350,000 of those being fatalities. These staggering figures underscore the immense human cost Russia has incurred from its military campaign. The conflict, which began with Russia's full-scale invasion, has become the deadliest in Europe since World War II.
According to the briefing, 400,000 Russian military personnel were recorded as killed or wounded in 2025 alone. Furthermore, from February 24, 2022, to February 11, 2026, the total losses for the invading forces are estimated at roughly 1,249,380 individuals. These numbers highlight both the severity and the protracted nature of the ongoing war.
The NATO official remarked: 'We are struck by the fate of those fallen in Russian losses.'
This statement confirms that the scale of human loss is a source of concern not only for Ukraine but also for the wider international community. Russia's casualty figures remain a critical topic for discussion and analysis among global security experts and analysts.
The data on Russian military losses could significantly influence the future trajectory of the conflict in Ukraine. Such high casualties may erode domestic public and military command support for the war within Russia. Additionally, these figures are likely to inform the international community's assessment of the battlefield situation and its decisions regarding further assistance to Ukraine.
