Serbian President Raises Alarm

According to TSN.ua: Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has voiced concerns over a new military partnership between Croatia, Albania, and Kosovo, formalized through a trilateral defense cooperation declaration signed in Tirana on March 18, 2025. Vučić argues that this collaboration poses a potential threat to Serbia’s security and has stressed that the country is prepared for a possible attack from its neighbors. This development comes amid long-standing regional tensions, with Serbia maintaining a policy of military neutrality while also cooperating with NATO.

“They are waiting for the right moment. We are preparing for their attack,” the president stated.

Serbia is currently bolstering its defensive capabilities, equipped with advanced weapon systems including Chinese hypersonic air-to-ground missiles capable of reaching targets up to 400 kilometers away. This arsenal enables the country to sustain a high state of alert against any potential military threats. Despite these preparations, Serbia continues to adhere to its official stance of military neutrality and fosters positive relations with NATO.

Significance of the Defense Pact

The defense cooperation among Croatia, Albania, and Kosovo represents a key element in the Western Balkans' security framework, with serious implications for regional stability. Serbia’s response to these developments underscores the enduring historical tensions in the area and its determination to safeguard its own interests. Monitoring these security dynamics is crucial for assessing prospects for peace and stability across the Balkan region.
