Unexpected life on a farm in Brazil

According to The Sun: A couple who left their life in the United Kingdom to become dairy farmers in Brazil shared that their new life has turned out to be nothing like they expected.

Angel Bulut, 25, and her partner moved from Bracknell in October 2022, flying 6,000 miles to the state of Paraná in southern Brazil.

They left a one-bedroom apartment and moved to a two-and-a-half-acre farm where they are now responsible for 30 cows, pigs, fish, and chickens.

Angel earned £2,300 a month working as a restaurant manager, but now her income has dropped by 60%, and she only earns £887.

Unfortunately, costs have not decreased as much as her income. Angel found that 'everything costs more' and now she has to spend her savings on 'entertainment'.

Angel said that the first year in her new home was “one of the biggest challenges of my life.”

The couple wakes up at 5 am every day to milk the cows, and she says that she works 'harder than she ever imagined.'

“Here I can’t leave the house alone without my dog’s protection. You can't go outside at night,” she noted.

At the beginning of her journey, Angel felt that her friends back home and locals thought she would 'not last a month.'

“I didn’t know Portuguese. I was just this 'blonde' girl from the city who came to a farm.”

After six months, she already planned to go back home, but eventually fell in love with her new life in Brazil.

“It wasn’t an easy process. We are living life, but without the pleasures that we had in the UK,” she said.

Angel admitted that she was never happy in the United Kingdom, and now she enjoys being under the warm sun.

“I have the sun, my animals have plenty of space, and I have no boss,” she added.

She is now learning the language and has fallen in love with the hard work of caring for animals.

“My health is good because I don’t freeze; I get vitamin D. In my opinion, private healthcare here is more accessible,” she noted.

“People here are friendlier compared to Brazilian culture, England is a very cold and cruel culture.”

“It was worth enduring a lot, but now I love Brazil,” she concluded.

A new life on the farm has been a real test for Angel, but also a path to new discoveries. She found not only new challenges but also happiness in simple joys: from interacting with animals to the warm weather. This story highlights how a change of scenery can turn challenges into opportunities if one knows how to seize them.

Moving to Brazil was not just a change of location, but an important milestone in Angel’s life where she learned to appreciate what truly matters. Thus, her experience may inspire those looking for a new path in life, even in the face of difficulties.
