New Financial Benchmarks Take Effect

According to TSN.ua: As of January 1, 2026, new financial benchmarks have come into force in Ukraine, directly impacting child support payments. A key change is the increase in the subsistence minimum for children, which has led to a corresponding rise in the legally mandated minimum alimony amounts.

Revised Minimum Child Support Amounts

Under the updated regulations, the minimum alimony payment is now set at 50% of the subsistence minimum for a child of the corresponding age. For children under six years old, the minimum monthly payment is 1,408.5 Ukrainian hryvnias (UAH). For children aged six to 18, the minimum monthly amount is 1,756 UAH.

These payments can be made through a voluntary agreement between parents or enforced by a court order. It is crucial to note that the obligation to pay child support remains in effect during martial law, making these payments a continuing priority even under the country's challenging circumstances. This update is part of ongoing efforts to adjust social support systems to economic realities.

The introduction of these new financial indicators for alimony reflects the state's aim to ensure children have the necessary resources for their development, accounting for the rising cost of living. These legislative changes are likely to affect the financial well-being of many families and underscore the importance of parental responsibility in fulfilling obligations, regardless of the nation's crisis situation.
