Currently, there are no threats to Ukraine from Belarus. However, provocations may occur during the Russian-Belarusian military exercises, which will take place in the fall of 2025.
Military Exercises of Russia and Belarus
Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, clarified that there are currently no threats from Belarus to Ukraine, but in September, when the maneuvers reach their peak activity, the situation for Ukraine may become more complicated. The Ukrainian intelligence is closely monitoring the situation and receiving the necessary information about the exercises.
The task of the intelligence units of the Ministry of Defense and the State Border Guard Service is to obtain all the necessary information about the number of forces and resources that the Russian Federation may involve in these exercises. And from this, it will be necessary to start to understand how much the risk to our country will increase.
The joint military exercises of the Russian Federation and Belarus 'West-2025' are scheduled to take place from September 12 to 16, 2025. Earlier, the State Border Guard Service reported the number of Russian military personnel sent to Belarus. Additionally, Belarus has also sent its units and forces to Russia to participate in the exercises.
There is information that military exercises in Belarus may pose a threat to several countries, including NATO countries. They may be on a large scale and aimed against a hypothetical adversary among the Alliance countries.
The Ukrainian State Border Guard Service has not recorded any threats from Belarus so far but emphasizes the need for careful observation and readiness for possible provocations during the Russia and Belarus exercises in 2025.
