Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today, we remember Hryhoriy Lapchak.
On October 12, 2023, Hryhoriy Lapchak, call sign Tractorist, received fatal injuries in a battle with the enemy in the Kupiansk direction of Kharkiv region. This information was reported by the Ivano-Frankivsk rural council of Lviv region.
Hryhoriy Mykhailovych was born on February 24, 1970, in the village of Seredkevichi, Lviv region. He graduated from the local school and the Uhniv Agrarian-Building Lyceum, where he learned to operate cranes. After that, he served in the army in Kazakhstan and worked as a special equipment driver in civilian life.
In February 2022, Hryhoriy voluntarily joined the 103rd separate territorial defense brigade. Initially, he was a squad commander, and later became a driver-machine gunner. He fought in Bakhmut in Donetsk region and carried out combat missions in the Kharkiv region.
In May 2023, Hryhoriy was wounded but quickly returned to the front after treatment. For his service, he was awarded the 'For Loyal Service' III class medal and the 'War Veteran' badge, as well as certificates of appreciation.
'Hryhoriy was a good family man, a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a responsible and reliable comrade, a caring father. He will always be in our hearts and memories!' - said his son Ruslan.
On October 12, 2023, Hryhoriy Lapchak's life was cut short in the Kupiansk direction of Kharkiv region. He received fatal injuries in a battle with the enemy.
The defender was buried in the village of Birky in Lviv region, where he lived with his family. He is survived by his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren.
We all together honor the memory of all Ukrainians who laid down their lives at the altar of the Motherland. We remember those who died at the hands of the Russian invaders and light candles in memory, bowing our heads in sorrow. This is a nationwide moment of silence in which we honor the bright memory of the citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our state: military, civilians, and children. We remember those who died in the struggle against Russian occupiers and as a result of hostile military attacks on our cities and villages.
