Ukraine is approaching the end of the heating season of 2024-2025. Although official dates have yet to be set, based on previous years' experience, some approximate predictions can be made regarding the disconnection of heating for citizens of Ukraine.
To analyze the situation, 'Khyvlia' journalists recommend their readers to familiarize themselves with the main factors affecting the end of the heating season.
Approximate dates for the end of the heating season
According to legislation, the heating season ends if the daily average temperature remains above +8℃ for three consecutive days. Based on statistics from previous years, the approximate end dates for the heating season in different regions of Ukraine are as follows:
- Southern regions (Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia oblasts): April 1-10

- Northern and Eastern regions (Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv): April 15-25
- Western regions (Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia): April 15-25
Sequence of heating disconnections by object

- Multi-apartment residential buildings
- HOA (homeowners' associations)
- Private sector with centralized heating

Features of the end of the heating season in 2025
- Economic factors: Due to the energy crisis, there may be a need for an early end to the heating season to conserve energy.
- Possibility of extension: In case of a sharp drop in temperature after the official end of the heating season, heating may be restored.
- Autonomous systems: Owners of private houses with autonomous heating and HOAs with their own boiler houses determine the end of the heating season independently.
Recommendations in case of early disconnection of heating
If heating is turned off before stable warm weather arrives, experts recommend:
- Use electric heaters sparingly, preferably during off-peak hours
- Maintain indoor temperatures no lower than +18℃
- Insulate windows and doors to retain heat
- Use an air conditioner with a heating function sparingly, if available
- In case of critical temperature drops in social facilities, contact local authorities
