The Minister of Economy denied rumors about the mass closure of supermarkets in Ukraine.
According to ТСН: There are no mass closures of supermarkets in Ukraine. This is confirmed by chains such as ATB-Market, Fozzy Group, NOVUS, Auchan, METRO UA, VARUS, KOL stores, as well as the Ukrainian Food Retail Alliance.
This was stated by the Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksiy Sobolev.
"All chains confirmed: there are no systemic closures of supermarkets," he stressed.
What issues are there
Businesses note that equipment in stores sometimes fails due to heavy loads and prolonged frosts, which complicates service maintenance.
"Accordingly, sometimes supermarkets temporarily close for a time to resolve the problem and immediately reopen after repairing the generator or eliminating other technical malfunctions," Sobolev stated.
Retailers are doing everything possible to create comfortable conditions for consumers. For example, they are setting up charging and heating areas. In some stores, there is the opportunity to work or rest.
The government is also negotiating with international partners to increase supplies of generators and spare parts.
"Our main task now is to ensure that despite prolonged power outages, Ukrainians still have uninterrupted access to products in stores, as well as being able to charge gadgets there, use the internet, or heat food. Supermarkets will continue to operate," the minister added.
Earlier, it was reported that in Kyiv and the region, some supermarkets are closing due to power outages.
In particular, the networks NOVUS and Silpo noted that some locations are not operating, while ATB confirmed that all stores are functioning normally.
The Kyiv authorities deny the published information. The mayor, Vitali Klitschko, assured that the data about the closure of supermarkets of large chains is not true.
Therefore, the situation with supermarkets in Ukraine remains under control. Despite technical difficulties, the government and businesses are working to provide the population with access to essential goods. Consumers can be calm: the main trading networks continue to operate, and the authorities are taking measures to improve service in the current conditions.
