Kyiv Under Fire on June 2: Casualty Toll Continues to Rise

According to Novyny.live: In the early hours of June 2, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on Kyiv using missiles and drones, killing six people and wounding 90 others. The assault caused significant damage across the city, particularly in the Shevchenkivskyi district, where the UNIT.Home residential complex was heavily hit.

As of 7:56 PM on June 2, authorities had confirmed 90 casualties, with 52 of the wounded hospitalized—including two children. Six people lost their lives. The attack also forced the closure of several major streets, disrupting traffic and movement throughout the capital.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko provided an update on the situation:

'As of now, Kyiv has 90 victims from the enemy's massive attack on the capital on June 2. Fifty-two injured are in hospitals, including two children. Six people have been killed.' Vitali Klitschko, Mayor of Kyiv

The situation in the city remains tense, and officials are still assessing the full extent of the destruction and the condition of the wounded.

This strike is the latest in a series of bombardments targeting civilian infrastructure, underscoring the ongoing security crisis in Ukraine, now in its third year. Such attacks have drawn widespread concern from both local residents and the international community, prompting calls for stronger support to protect civilians. Emergency services and medical teams are working around the clock to aid victims, though the scale of damage will require long-term recovery efforts and continued assistance from both the state and global partners.
