The Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom and former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi met with 8-year-old gymnast Oleksandra Paskal, who lost her leg due to a Russian strike.

This is stated in the athlete's social media.

«An incredible meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom General Zaluzhnyi» , – Paskal wrote on Instagram.

Let us remind you, in May 2022, Paskal lost her leg due to a Russian missile strike on Zatoka in the Odesa region.

As a result of the Russian attack, Oleksandra suffered an open fracture of her arm, a head injury, a fracture of 4 ribs, and multiple shrapnel wounds. The athlete was in a medically induced coma for 15 days. Doctors could not save the girl's leg.

Oleksandra underwent rehabilitation in Austria and returned to competition.

As reported, Valerii Zaluzhnyi wrote a book «My War» – the first in an upcoming trilogy.

«My War» – is a memoir about events from the ex-commander's childhood to February 24, 2022. Several chapters are also dedicated to the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war. The book «My War» became the first in the trilogy. The next two will be called «Our War» and «Their War»

It is noted that the first book is fully completed and will soon appear in bookstores. Currently, Valerii Zaluzhnyi is working on the second part – «Our War».

In response to the publication's question about whether the book is the start of a political career for the ex-commander, sources replied that Zaluzhnyi does not intend to go into politics. Instead, he plans to focus on his work as the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom.

Recall, Zaluzhnyi supports the plan for Ukraine's victory in the war against Russia but notes that in war «there are no predictions – there is mathematics». This was reported by journalist Nina Kuryata, who asked the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine about the plan.

Zaluzhnyi also stated that he does not support the mobilization of 18-25-year-olds. The ambassador added that only the youth can save Ukraine.

«If the country reaches such a barrier when there is a threat to the state's existence as such, only young people aged 18-25 can save it because they are completely different people», – noted the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom and former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
