Security Threat to Kolomoisky May Force Commission to Meet at SBU Detention Center.
Assassination Plot Against Igor Kolomoisky
According to Novyny.live: On January 21, details emerged of a plot to assassinate businessman Igor Kolomoisky while he was being transported to a hearing of the Temporary Investigative Commission (TIC). This has created circumstances that could compel the TIC to hold its session within the detention facility of Ukraine's Security Service (SBU).
A TIC hearing had already taken place on January 15, but Igor Kolomoisky was unable to attend. His absence was due to procedural actions at the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU). As reported by People's Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko, the SBU confirmed that unknown individuals were preparing an attempt on Kolomoisky's life.
"We received a response from the SBU explaining why Kolomoisky will not be at our TIC hearing. The reason is that it has been established that an attempt on the life of Igor Kolomoisky is being prepared by unknown persons," stated Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko.
Security Situation
Oleksiy Honcharenko also highlighted the complexity of the situation, noting that preparatory actions for the assassination attempt were already underway by the afternoon following Kolomoisky's delivery to NABU.
"That is, he was taken to NABU in the morning. And by lunchtime—an assassination was already being prepared," he emphasized.
Given the threat to Kolomoisky's life, the TIC is considering the possibility of moving its hearing to Askoldov Lane, to the SBU's detention center, underscoring the seriousness of the situation. This incident occurs against a backdrop of intense scrutiny of Kolomoisky, a prominent and controversial figure in Ukrainian business and politics for decades.
The plot against his life points to deeper conflicts within Ukraine's business circles or political spheres. Consequently, the subsequent actions of law enforcement and the TIC will be closely monitored, as they could influence the country's political and business stability.
