According to ТСН: Nicolas Maduro will stand before a court in New York this evening. He faces charges of drug trafficking, illegal arms trade, and creating a 'narco-terrorist regime'.

Lightning Operation in Caracas

The Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro found himself in America not by his own choice, but in handcuffs, thanks to a swift operation carried out by American intelligence over the weekend.

The United States had offered Maduro to leave the country peacefully — the last proposal to go to Turkey was made on the eve of Christmas. However, the Venezuelan dictator perceived these statements from Washington only as empty threats. According to the New York Times, the final moment that prompted the operation was the publication of a video where Maduro dances to a remix of his own peace speech. This was perceived in America as blasphemy, which prompted agents to take action.

Details of the Bedroom Capture

The details of the special operation are striking: back in August, a group of CIA agents made their way to Caracas. Thanks to an informant from Maduro's inner circle and drones, important information was gathered. The agents managed to catch Maduro and his wife off guard while they were asleep. The dictator's security was made up of Cuban military personnel, who, according to Washington, surrendered him without a single shot.

Marco Rubio, Secretary of State of the USA:

“This is not an invasion. We did not occupy the country. It was an arrest operation, maintaining law and order. He was arrested on Venezuelan territory by FBI agents. His rights were read to him and he was taken out of the country.”

During the operation, 32 Cuban citizens died, bringing the total number of casualties to nearly forty.

New Authority and Trump's Plans

In Venezuela, preparations are underway to swear in Vice President Delsi Rodriguez. Despite her initial sharp statement, she has already called for cooperation with Washington. The President of the USA warned Rodriguez that she would 'pay even more than Maduro' if she does not act correctly, sharing his plans for the country.

Donald Trump, President of the USA:

“The country is in terrible shape, it has been poorly managed. We will invite major oil companies to repair the infrastructure and invest money. We will not invest anything. We will just take care of the country.”

World Reaction and Russian General

China and Russia condemned the special operation. Interestingly, a Russian general, Oleg Makarevich, is stuck in Venezuela, who was sent there after losing in Kherson to share his experience. The Kremlin is not responding to requests for his return. In South America, positions have divided: Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and Cuba are against the actions of the USA, while Argentina and Ecuador support them.

Next Targets and UN Security Council

Donald Trump is publicly pondering whether Colombia or Mexico may be next targets of operations. The US State Department released a photo from the room where Trump was monitoring the operation. Earlier, Washington had promised to intervene if Tehran began killing protesters.

Nicolas Maduro will stand trial in New York. That same day, at Colombia's request, the UN Security Council will convene. The UN Secretary-General has already expressed traditional concern.

The Venezuelan situation remains tense. The detention of Nicolas Maduro could seriously affect the political landscape of the region and relations between the USA and Venezuela, as well as provoke new discussions on the international stage. It also demonstrates the USA's activity in addressing crises arising in Latin America. The global community is now watching the further steps of Washington and the new Venezuelan authority.
