Macron and Zelenskyy Agree on Key Moves—Here’s What We Know So Far.
Zelenskyy’s Visit to France
According to Novyny.live: During his trip to France on March 13, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron announced significant agreements between their nations, though specific details remain undisclosed. The two leaders tackled a range of pressing cooperation issues during the meeting.
Macron revealed that Ukraine would receive a €90 billion loan from the European Union—a major step toward shoring up Ukraine’s economy. Zelenskyy stated,
“We have agreed not to discuss certain matters publicly for now. We will focus on advancing key steps that will undoubtedly strengthen both countries.”- Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Collaboration with Middle Eastern Nations
Zelenskyy also highlighted Ukraine’s direct engagement with three Middle Eastern countries:
- Saudi Arabia
- Qatar
- United Arab Emirates
“We are currently working directly with three Middle Eastern nations—Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE—without involving other parties,” he said.
This visit underscores the ongoing partnership between Ukraine and France, as well as Ukraine’s drive to broaden its international ties.
Zelenskyy’s trip to France highlights the critical role of global support for Ukraine, particularly amid ongoing economic strains. The EU loan is expected to play a key part in stabilizing the country’s finances, which is vital given the backdrop of a protracted war. Meanwhile, cooperation with Middle Eastern states could unlock new avenues for Ukraine in energy and trade, potentially marking a pivotal shift in its foreign policy.
