Zelensky's address to the JEF summit

According to Novyny.live: Speaking at the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) leaders' summit in Helsinki, Volodymyr Zelensky called on Europe to independently produce air defense systems and their accompanying missiles. He stressed the critical need for confidence in the continent's own defense industrial base, noting that Ukraine urgently requires effective protection against drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles—particularly in the face of ongoing Russian strikes.

Initiatives and cooperation

Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine needs every type of air defense system available. During his speech, he also highlighted the PURL initiative, which aims to strengthen Europe's defensive capabilities. The Ukrainian president stated:

'We cannot rely on the military-industrial complexes of other partners. We must be confident in our own base here, in Europe. Please, let us continue this work and accelerate it.' Volodymyr Zelensky

Additionally, Zelensky expressed Ukraine's readiness to become a full member of JEF, and noted its enhanced partner status in Oslo—a sign of Kyiv's intent to engage more deeply with European defense initiatives. These steps underscore the importance of cooperation among European nations to ensure security and stability in the region.

Zelensky's remarks at the JEF summit reflect the growing need to bolster Europe's defensive posture amid modern threats. By urging self-reliance in producing defense systems, he highlights the necessity of reducing dependence on external suppliers. These efforts could enhance not only Ukraine's security but also stability across the broader European region, especially given current geopolitical challenges.
