Zelenskyy Reveals Russia's New Targets for the Second Phase of Winter Strikes.
Russia's Winter Campaign and Emerging Threats to Ukraine
According to TSN.ua: Moscow has entered the second phase of its winter operation, now focusing on strikes against Ukraine's critical infrastructure. These attacks target essential facilities including water supply systems, storage reservoirs, dams, and logistics corridors. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stressed the urgent need for funding to bolster defenses, noting that while Russia's intentions are clear, Ukraine is in a stronger position than it was last winter.
Recent Russian military assaults have damaged key infrastructure such as ports and railways. In one incident, shelling of an apartment building in Dnipro left several people wounded. Meanwhile, in the Kirovohrad region, a drone struck a locomotive maintenance depot. In response to these escalating threats, Zelenskyy stated that with adequate budget resources, Ukraine could produce up to two thousand interceptor drones daily—a move that would significantly enhance the country's defensive capabilities.
Conflict Intensifies Amid Calls for International Support
These developments underscore the escalating conflict and the growing dangers posed to Ukraine's civilian infrastructure. Tensions remain extremely high across the region, and Ukraine's efforts to strengthen its defense systems are critical in the face of ongoing aggression.
At the same time, financial backing from international partners for defense programs could prove decisive in ensuring the country's long-term stability and security.
