Ukrainian Forces Strike Kirov’s Avitek Plant: Key Military Components Under Sanctions.
Targeting Military Industrial Sites
According to UATV: On July 24, Ukraine’s Defense Forces successfully hit the Avitek facility in Kirov, a major military plant that manufactures parts for combat equipment, as confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The site specializes in producing anti-aircraft missiles, aviation components, and ejection seats for fighter jets. Notably, Avitek is already under sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union, Ukraine, and other nations.
The strike was carried out at a distance of 1,350 kilometers. Zelenskyy underscored the operation’s significance, stating:
“Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck one of the key military enterprises in Russia’s Kirov. It supplies components for the occupier’s aviation and missile systems, which are used in massive attacks on our cities and communities. I thank our warriors for their precision! This is a fully justified response.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Ongoing Operations
The president also noted that operations continue to dismantle Russian logistics networks that supply the occupation army with drone parts, navigation gear, and other equipment. Zelenskyy added:
“There have been other successful strikes as well. It is important that the operation against Russian logistics is ongoing.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Fuel production in Russia dropped to 65% of seasonal consumption levels in early July, which may indicate mounting difficulties in meeting military supply needs.
Attacks on facilities like Avitek highlight Ukraine’s strategy of degrading Russian military resources, potentially weakening its combat effectiveness. The decline in Russian fuel output also points to possible logistical bottlenecks that could hinder the delivery of military materials. These developments reflect the conflict’s ongoing intensity and the critical role of disrupting enemy production capabilities.
