Zelensky outlined three key security guarantees for Ukraine: what do they entail.
According to FREEДOM:
The President of Ukraine voiced security guarantees
On August 29, President Volodymyr Zelensky during a briefing identified three key aspects that are important for ensuring the security of Ukraine. These are strengthening the Ukrainian army, intensifying international cooperation with partners, and introducing sanctions against Russia.
Main components of security
Although Zelensky did not disclose details regarding these guarantees, he emphasized their importance for the state.
“The first block is our army. In my opinion, this block includes funding for the number of personnel that currently exists. The ability to finance the army in the exact number that today protects our borders. No one is saying - more, but we cannot say - less, because we are not going to conduct any experiments. The second part - we have always wanted to join NATO. If not NATO (and we are told: by strength, like NATO, but not NATO), then we need to understand what partners are ready for. Sanctions - are in the third block. And I believe that here are also Russian assets. After all, this is the restoration of our state, this is energy, communication, and so on. And this is also part of our security guarantees,” - stated Volodymyr Zelensky.
Statements by the Belgian Minister of Defense
In addition, Belgian Minister of Defense Theo Francken reported that the country does not rule out the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine in the event of achieving peace.
The security guarantees announced by President Zelensky are an important step towards strengthening Ukraine's defense capability in the context of a prolonged conflict. Cooperation with international partners and economic sanctions against the aggressor remain critically important for maintaining stability in the region. The Belgian Minister of Defense added that international support for Ukraine could strengthen the country's position on the path to peace and security.
