Russia Lost 41 Aircraft in 'Web' Operation, Zelenskyy Reveals in Anniversary Update.
One Year Since Operation 'Web'
According to UATV: June 1 marks the anniversary of Operation 'Web', a milestone for Ukrainian forces. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted that this operation inflicted severe losses on Russia, including the destruction of 41 Russian aircraft. This campaign represents a critical phase in Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which has now stretched over 1,559 days.
Sanctions and Their Economic Toll on Russia
Zelenskyy also underscored the impact of long-range sanctions on Russia's economy. He stated that between January and May 2023, Ukrainian forces struck 15 Russian oil refineries, taking 40% of Russia's primary oil refining capacity offline by May 2023.
'Our long-range capability, Ukrainian creativity—it truly works to defend the state' - Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The president further emphasized that 'there will be no calm times for the occupier on Ukrainian soil.' He warned that Russia may be preparing a massive strike, and Ukrainian troops must remain ready for potential threats. These remarks underscore Ukraine's sustained defensive posture and proactive measures to safeguard its territory.
Operation 'Web' stands as a pivotal moment in the war, highlighting the importance of strategic military action for Ukraine. At the same time, economic pressure on Russia via sanctions and attacks on critical infrastructure reflects Ukraine's dual approach—combining military and economic resistance. Such efforts could significantly hinder Russia's ability to sustain the war over the long term, while demonstrating Ukraine's resolve in its ongoing fight for independence.
