Zelensky's meeting with the President of Azerbaijan: gas transportation and the halt of US aid
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev regarding the transportation of Azerbaijani gas through Ukrainian infrastructure.
According to Zelensky, Azerbaijan produces significant volumes of gas - about 40 billion cubic meters, of which approximately 14-15 billion are used. The country has the capacity to export up to 25 billion cubic meters of gas.
'It exports its gas to many countries and can use our infrastructure if other countries in Eastern Europe indeed need gas,' the President of Ukraine noted during a joint press conference with the President of Moldova Maia Sandu.
Zelensky emphasized Ukraine's readiness to sign the necessary contracts for gas export as soon as he receives the appropriate signal from European partners. At the same Time, he reaffirmed that the contract for the export of Russian gas will not be extended.
'Legally we are not violating anything, morally we are absolutely right. We are not allowing the Russians to profit. If Azerbaijanis want to profit from their production - we are happy to allow that,' the President of Ukraine emphasized.
Zelensky also expressed his position on the cessation of aid to Ukraine from the US State Department.
It is worth reminding that Volodymyr Zelensky and Maia Sandu signed a joint statement reflecting the key points of the meeting.
