Discussions Around Sergey Koretsky's Potential Appointment

According to Espreso.tv: Journalist Maryna Danylyuk-Yarmolayeva, speaking on the program 'Now the Main Thing,' examined the possibility of Sergey Koretsky becoming Ukraine's next prime minister. This comes after the Verkhovna Rada approved the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on July 14, clearing the way for new leadership appointments. Against this backdrop, Koretsky has emerged as a likely candidate for the role.

Additionally, Danylyuk-Yarmolayeva noted that meetings between Sergey Koretsky and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as with the 'Servant of the People' parliamentary faction, are expected soon. According to the journalist, President Zelenskyy has not yet made a final decision:

“Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he hasn't decided yet—maybe we'll keep Fedorov there somewhere” - Maryna Danylyuk-Yarmolayeva.

This suggests that any government reshuffles will depend on further consultations.

It is also reported that despite lacking political experience and a ready-made team, Koretsky has proposed several names for new ministerial posts:

“They say that Koretsky, even though he is not a politician and has no political team, is also putting forward several names” - Maryna Danylyuk-Yarmolayeva.

Importantly, after a new prime minister is appointed, parliament must approve the full cabinet lineup—a critical step in the personnel change process.

Political Factors and Expectations

Commenting on the situation, Yaroslav Zheleznyak noted that the government change is driven by a combination of political factors. He expressed optimism about Koretsky as a candidate:

  • “I hope that Sergey Koretsky will be a good candidate for the position of prime minister” - Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

As a result, the next phase of governance in the country will hinge on the outcomes of upcoming meetings and discussions, which could significantly shape Ukraine's political landscape.

In Ukraine, a change of prime minister typically triggers major political shifts, impacting both the economy and social conditions. Given the ongoing war with Russia and internal challenges, the new government will need to respond quickly to pressing issues and demonstrate effectiveness in tackling key tasks. The forthcoming talks between the president and the potential candidate will be crucial in defining Ukraine's strategy and political direction in the near future.
