Ukraine Marks Statehood Day Amid Ongoing War

According to UATV: On July 15, Ukraine celebrated its Day of Ukrainian Statehood. During the event, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted that the nation has withstood 12 years of Russian aggression and 1,603 days of full-scale war. In his address, he underscored the strength and significance of Ukraine as a sovereign state, noting that even Russian state propagandists have admitted:

“Ukraine is a strong state that Russia cannot and will not overcome.”

Speaking about the numerous challenges the country has faced, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of recognizing and thanking the defenders—both men and women—who fight for the nation’s independence and territorial integrity.

“For all of this, for every such moment, we are grateful to our defenders,”
he stated.

Ukraine’s Resilience in the Face of Adversity

Russia’s aggression against Ukraine began in 2022, and since then, the country has continued to steadfastly resist external threats. Ukrainians understand that the prolonged war is a test of courage and endurance. In this context, the celebration of Statehood Day has become a symbol of unity and commitment to national values.

This observance served as a powerful moment to reinforce national identity and patriotism among Ukrainians during wartime. President Zelenskyy’s remarks to the country’s defenders reflect a widespread societal recognition of the importance of defense—crucial for maintaining morale and national cohesion. The day also acts as a reminder to the international community of the ongoing challenges Ukraine faces and the continued need for support in its fight for independence and sovereignty.
