Belarusian Relay Stations Used to Guide Russian Strikes Have Been Shut Down, Zelenskyy Confirms.
Developments Concerning Relay Stations in Belarus
According to UATV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that relay stations stationed on Belarusian soil—which had been leveraged to direct Russian attacks on Ukraine—ceased operations on June 22. This development unfolds amid heightened tensions between Ukraine and Belarus, especially given the ongoing military hostilities in the region.
According to Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, the equipment has been offline since the start of the week. Prior to this, on June 19, Zelenskyy urged Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko to remove these stations, which were positioned near the Ukrainian border.
“The fact is that the relay stations are not working today,” the Ukrainian president stated during a June 24 announcement.
Impact on the Military Landscape
This information signals shifts in the regional military situation and underscores the critical need to monitor border-area developments. The deactivation of these relay stations could degrade the tactical capabilities of Russian forces in their operations against Ukraine.
The halt in relay station operations might indicate evolving military strategy on Ukraine’s part, as well as possible internal or external pressures on Belarus. This could open new opportunities for Ukrainian forces in the conduct of the war and alter the conflict’s dynamics. Close observation of subsequent events will be essential for assessing the broader regional situation.
