Zelensky Confirms Long-Range 'Flamingo' Strikes on Russian Factory and Oil Refinery.
Strikes on Russian Military Targets
According to UATV: On June 10, 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukrainian 'Flamingo' missiles struck a military plant in Cheboksary and the Kuybyshevsky oil refinery in the Samara region. The Cheboksary facility supplies components for drones and missiles to the Russian Armed Forces, making it a strategically vital target. This operation highlights Ukraine's growing capability to hit deep behind enemy lines.
The distance from the front line to the Kuybyshevsky refinery exceeds 900 kilometers. Additionally, strikes were carried out on two oil infrastructure sites in the Vladimir region, located about 700 kilometers from the front line.
President Zelensky stated: 'We continue to apply Ukrainian long-range sanctions against Russian military facilities and the oil industry.'
Zelensky also expressed gratitude to the troops involved in these missions, saying: 'I am grateful to the warriors of the SSO, SBS, and GUR.' These actions are part of Ukraine's broader strategy to counter Russian aggression and degrade the enemy's military resources.
Ukraine's New Military Strategy
Attacks on strategically important sites inside Russia mark a new phase in Ukraine's military approach, aimed at increasing pressure on Russian military assets and infrastructure. These operations underscore the ability of Ukrainian forces to conduct long-range missions, which could significantly alter the course of the war and Russia's strategic calculus.
It is worth noting that such strikes also carry political implications, demonstrating Ukraine's resolve to defend its independence and security.
