President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with NBC News spoke about why Ukraine did not inform its partners about the start of the Kursk operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine's partners were not informed about the start of the operation in the Kursk region, which came as a surprise to them.

"I won't say, sorry, I can't talk about it. It's like the start of our Kursk operation. With all due respect, I can't talk about it, I think success is very close to surprise," said the president.

Zelensky emphasized that the Kursk operation is an integral part of his "victory plan", but he will not go into details about it, just as he did not tell partners about it.

The president also stressed that the administration of US President Joe Biden was not aware of the operation and it was kept in strict secrecy even within Ukraine.

"Yes, we didn't inform anyone. And it's not a question of distrust," said Zelensky.

In addition, the president explained that Kyiv's counteroffensive last summer failed because it was widely talked about and advertised, giving the Russians Time to prepare.

The visit of the Irish Prime Minister and the Russian missile strikes were also commented on by Zelensky in his address.
