No prior agreement: Zelenskyy explains why Israel was left out of his Middle East tour.
Zelenskyy clarifies reason for skipping Israel during his regional trip
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Israel was not included in his Middle Eastern tour simply because no arrangements had been made beforehand. He emphasized that there was no prior communication—neither by phone nor at the expert level—which is typically required to set the stage for such visits.
“I had no contact with Israel, either by telephone or through expert channels,” he explained.
During the trip, Zelenskyy signed several agreements with other countries in the region, but none of these deals involve Ukraine joining any conflict with Iran. A key outcome was a diesel supply agreement. Notably, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reached out to Ukraine on March 14 requesting assistance, yet this did not change the lack of groundwork needed for a Zelenskyy visit to Israel.
The role of diplomatic preparation
This situation highlights how essential pre-visit negotiations and mutual coordination are for international travel. In this case, the absence of such dialogue prevented Israel from being added to the president’s itinerary.
The episode underscores the critical need for ongoing diplomatic engagement and open lines of communication between nations to ensure successful state visits. Amid the volatile geopolitical landscape of the Middle East, a lack of direct contact can hinder cooperation and cause missed opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties.
Even with agreements already in place with other regional players, Israel remains a significant partner for Ukraine. Future efforts to re-establish communication could prove vital for both countries.
