Zelensky on the energy crisis: Kyiv is facing the toughest power outages.
According to ТСН: The situation with electricity supply and heating in Ukraine has become extremely difficult due to Russian shelling and harsh winter weather.
Challenging situation in the cities
This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening address. He noted that in some communities, particularly in border areas, the situation remained critical. Work is ongoing in Kyiv to restore electricity supply after the shelling.
Many families in Brovary, Vasylkiv, Fastiv, and Boryspil also remain without electricity. Zelensky emphasized that energy workers and repair teams are actively working in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions.
“Our energy workers, repair teams, and all utility services that are really working and doing incredible and truly heroic things. The severe winter weather adds difficulties, which is why it is so challenging. This is the kind of weather that the Russians are trying to exploit,” the president emphasized.
Restoration of the energy system
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko also reported that efforts are underway in Kyiv to overcome the consequences of hostile attacks on the energy system, noting that the situation should improve by next week. She added that Russian forces carried out one of the largest attacks on energy infrastructure since the conflict began.
Energy expert Stanislav Ihnatiev warned that Kyiv is facing the toughest power outages, particularly next week as severe frosts increase electricity consumption.
The situation with energy supply in Ukraine remains critical, and new threats from Russian troops impose additional difficulties. While the energy workers are working on restoration, Ukrainians are forced to adapt to the conditions of severe winter and expected power outages. The upcoming weeks promise to be crucial for stabilizing the energy system and returning to normal life in the cities.
