Impending prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced that an exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia will take place soon. According to him, the Russian side has already promised to hand over 500 Ukrainian prisoners of war out of 1000 that were preliminarily agreed upon.
«The Russians promised that they would provide us with the lists of the individuals to be exchanged, and this is very important for us. But we have not yet received these lists due to some technical reasons. However, we will demand that the Ukrainian side receive them,» Zelensky emphasized.
It was also agreed to exchange the bodies of the deceased. Zelensky stressed the need for clear identification of the bodies to honor the fallen soldiers. Oleg Gushchin, a representative of the Coordination Headquarters, reported on the location of the detained Ukrainians, noting that they are located both in Russian territory and in the occupied territories of Ukraine and even in Belarus.
