Ukraine Receives Over Ten NASAMS Systems, Zelenskyy Thanks Norway for Military Aid.
Zelenskyy Acknowledges Norwegian Support
According to Novyny.live: On February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Norway for its military assistance, which includes the delivery of more than ten NASAMS air defense systems and Norwegian-made missiles. This support is a critical component of Ukraine's defense against ongoing aerial threats. NASAMS, or National/Norwegian Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems, are highly effective at intercepting aircraft, drones, and cruise missiles.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated:
“The Norwegian NASAMS systems have been a great help to us. I will not specify the exact number of NASAMS we have, but it is more than ten, and we continue to receive them.”This aid significantly enhances Ukraine's ability to protect its airspace, a vital capability given the current security situation.
International Backing for Ukraine
Norway's military assistance, particularly the NASAMS systems, underscores the broad international support for Ukraine's efforts to strengthen its defensive capabilities. It also highlights the deepening security cooperation between Ukraine and Northern European nations, a partnership that could have lasting implications for regional stability in the face of aggression.
