Statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

According to UATV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on February 7 that his government is preparing to sign multiple security guarantee agreements. These pacts are intended to be finalized with the United States, the European Union, and a 'coalition of willing' nations. Zelenskyy stressed the critical importance of concluding a bilateral security document with the United States, with the broader coalition also participating in the signing process. This push for formal security assurances comes as Ukraine continues to defend itself against Russia's full-scale invasion.

Peace Plan and European Integration

In his remarks, the president referenced a 20-point peace plan that could serve as a foundation for future negotiations.

“We are signing a bilateral security guarantees document with America,” Zelenskyy stated.
He also emphasized the urgent need for a fast-track procedure for Ukraine's accession to the European Union, arguing that “then there must be an agreement with the EU and a roadmap of actions that Ukraine must implement very quickly.”

Zelenskyy indicated that the signing of these documents must occur by a specific date, after which they would bear the signatures of Ukraine, Europe, the United States, and Russia. The president views these steps as vital for strengthening Ukraine's security and ensuring its path toward European integration. These efforts represent a strategic approach to bolstering national sovereignty in the face of ongoing geopolitical pressure.

The Ukrainian leader's statement underscores a determined strategy to secure the country's future through binding international partnerships. Finalizing agreements with key allies and advancing European integration are seen as crucial elements for reinforcing Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. This initiative highlights Ukraine's drive to consolidate international support in response to the profound security challenges it currently faces.
