Zelenskyy Announces Next Round of Talks with Russia Within Ten Days.
Ukrainian President Meets with Negotiating Delegation
According to UATV: On February 20, 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the Ukrainian delegation involved in talks to end the war. The meeting reviewed recent negotiations with American partners and the Russian delegation, which took place in Geneva on February 17-18. Participants agreed to hold the next meeting within ten days.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that if a ceasefire is achieved, its monitoring would be handled primarily by Americans.
"If there is a ceasefire and an end to the war, then the monitoring of the ceasefire will be carried out first and foremost by the Americans," the president emphasized. He also stated that it is still too early to speak of positive results, but the sides found constructive elements in the discussions, particularly regarding exchanges.
Complexity of Unresolved Conflict Issues
The head of state stressed the complexity of the issues that remain unresolved.
"There is less constructive progress here. This is the question of eastern Ukraine, the question of Donbas, the question of territory," he noted.Nevertheless, Zelenskyy believes the meeting itself is a positive step. "In my view, overall, the fact that a meeting took place is good," the president said.
Thus, negotiations continue, and participants hope for further progress in resolving the conflict. These talks are part of a broader international diplomatic effort to address the ongoing war in Ukraine, which began with Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.
This meeting between the Ukrainian delegation and President Zelenskyy demonstrates the Ukrainian side's commitment to seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict, despite the complexity of the remaining issues. Hopes for constructive dialogue and the involvement of American partners in monitoring the process point to continued international support for Ukraine during this difficult period. The upcoming talks could become a significant step toward achieving stability in the region.
