Zelenskyy: Middle East Conflict May Postpone Ukraine-US-Russia Talks.
Potential Rescheduling of Trilateral Ukraine-US-Russia Meeting
According to Novyny.live: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has indicated that the dates for a planned trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia, scheduled for March 5-9, may be shifted. The ongoing war in the Middle East is cited as the reason for this potential delay. Zelenskyy noted that Ukrainian officials are in discussions with their American counterparts, who initiated the proposal for this summit.
“We have spoken with the American side—as they are the party inviting both Ukraine and Russia to this meeting—about a possible change of venue and a postponement for some time due to the war in the Middle East,” — Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Prisoner of War Exchange Discussions
Separately, the issue of exchanging prisoners of war was also raised during prior consultations. Zelenskyy emphasized the critical importance of this process for the families of service members.
“The exchange of prisoners of war is always a crucial moment, a positive development for the families. We very much hope that in the coming days we can begin this exchange process,” — Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Consequently, the matters of the trilateral summit and the POW exchange remain pressing against a backdrop of shifting international dynamics. New dates for the negotiations are expected to be announced soon. This meeting is significant for advancing diplomatic relations between Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia, as well as for addressing humanitarian concerns stemming from military conflicts. The potential schedule changes underscore how global security challenges can impact regional diplomacy. The proposed talks represent a rare diplomatic channel between the parties since the full-scale invasion began.
