Statement from Ukraine's President

According to TSN.ua: In an interview with CNN, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his country's readiness to freeze the current line of contact in the Donbas conflict. He stressed, however, that Ukraine cannot simply withdraw its military from the region. Zelenskyy also appealed directly to U.S. President Donald Trump, urging him to support Ukraine. This appeal comes as Ukraine continues to seek robust international backing for its sovereignty.

The Complex Reality in Donbas

Zelenskyy outlined the difficult circumstances on the ground:

“This is not the best position for us, but in any case, we have defensive lines.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy

He underscored the critical importance of support from the United States, stating:

“America must stand with a democratic country that is fighting against one man.” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy

The Ukrainian President also voiced deep concern over the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, asserting: “The Russian president is not only killing Ukrainians but is also holding his entire nation in prison.”

Zelenskyy added that Ukraine must not show weakness in this situation: “We cannot be, sorry, fools.” His statements advocate for active international support in confronting Russian aggression. The conflict in eastern Ukraine, now in its tenth year, has created a protracted and volatile security situation in Europe.

President Zelenskyy's remarks reflect the complex geopolitical reality Ukraine faces, where the war in Donbas has persisted for several years. The importance of international backing, particularly from the United States, remains crucial for ensuring stability in the region. This interview may serve as a catalyst for further negotiations and actions by Ukraine's international partners, potentially influencing the course of future events.
