President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that each victory of our athletes inspires all of Ukraine.

Ukraine has already won two silver and two bronze medals in swimming at the Paralympic Games.

Winners

  • Anton Kol won silver in the 100m backstroke. 
  • Irina Poyda won a silver medal in the 200m freestyle. 
  • Anna Gontar – bronze medalist in the 50m freestyle.
  • Oleksandr Komarov has a bronze medal in the 200m freestyle. 

«Great start! Each victory of our athletes inspires our whole country. Keep it up!» – noted the president.

Ukrainian swimmer Anton Kol won silver in the 100m backstroke in class S1. This is the first medal for the Ukrainian team at the 2024 Paralympic Games. Later, our swimmers won three more medals.

The 2024 Summer Paralympic Games will last until September 8 in Paris. 4,400 athletes from 169 countries will compete in 22 sports. Ukraine is represented by 140 athletes who will compete in 17 sports.

This is already the eighth Paralympics for our team. At the previous Summer Games, Ukrainian athletes won 98 awards, of which 24 were gold, and took sixth place in the medal standings.

Belarus and Russia are allowed to compete in individual events as neutral athletes. 85-90 Russians were allowed to compete.
